overview

Task Boost is a web-based collaboration and project management platform that is designed to help individuals and teams manage their tasks more efficiently. The platform is aimed at businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large corporations, and offers a range of features to help teams stay on top of their tasks and collaborate more effectively.

problem

Task Boost's primary challenge is to provide an easy-to-use task management and team collaboration tool that is powerful enough to meet the needs of large organizations, yet simple enough for smaller teams to use effectively.

solution

To address these challenges, Task Boost was designed with a range of features that would meet the needs of businesses of all sizes. The platform's core functionality revolves around the creation, assignment, and tracking of tasks. Users can easily create tasks and assign them to specific team members, set deadlines, and track progress. In addition to task management, Task Boost offers a range of collaboration features. Teams can communicate with each other using built-in chat and messaging tools, share files and documents, and collaborate on project boards.

design process

The design process for the Task Boost task management platform involved user research and discovery, followed by iterative design and prototyping, user testing and feedback.

METHODOLOGY

To develop Task Boost, I conducted extensive user research to gain insight into the needs and pain points of potential users. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including user interviews, and surveys.

user interviews

I conducted a series of user interviews with individuals and teams across different industries to gain insight into their task management processes and pain points. The interviews were semi-structured and allowed participants to share their experiences, frustrations, and needs related to task management and team collaboration.

research goals

The research goals were to gain insight into the needs and pain points of potential users related to task management and team collaboration, and to use that insight to inform the design of the Task Boost platform. The research aimed to:

1. Identify the current task management and team collaboration practices across different industries and organizations.
2. Understand the pain points and challenges users face when managing tasks and collaborating with team members.
3. Determine the desired features and functionality of a new task management and team collaboration platform.
4. Evaluate the usability and effectiveness of the Task Boost platform through usability testing.
5. Use the insights gained from the research to inform the design and development of the Task Boost platform, with a focus on creating a platform that is intuitive, easy to use, and highly collaborative.

research results

1. Task Management: Users struggle to keep track of tasks and deadlines when using traditional task management tools like email and spreadsheets. Users expressed a need for a more intuitive and collaborative platform that would allow them to easily create, assign, and track tasks.

2. Collaboration: Users also expressed a need for better collaboration tools that would allow them to communicate more effectively and share files and documents easily.

3. Usability: Users expressed frustration with the complexity and steep learning curve of existing task management platforms. They wanted a platform that was easy to use and intuitive.

4. How might we make the platform more customizable to meet the specific needs of different organizations?
5. How might we make it easier for users to track progress on tasks and projects?
6. How might we make it easier for team members to collaborate on tasks in real-time?
7. How might we help users prioritize tasks and deadlines more effectively?

USER FLOW

user testing

Due to the short period of time available for the Task Boost project, I was only able to conduct user testing on Lo-Fi prototypes. However, if given more time, I would have wanted to carry out quantitative testing to measure important metrics such as:
1. The types of frustrations experienced by users.
2. Average time it takes to complete a task.
3. The impact of push notifications on user engagement.

a minimal design system

Created a minimal and reliable design system for Task Boost that would focus on creating a consistent and intuitive user experience.

conclusion

Designing Task Boost task management platform taught me the importance of user-centered design, and the value of a thorough research and discovery process to identify key user needs and preferences. By incorporating this feedback into the design, I was able to create a platform that is both functional and user-friendly.
